Expertise conditions

A panel of assessors will be compiled at the beginning of the project and added to as required using a rigorous process with defined criteria depending on their role (technical expert or management consultant).

Selection criteria for assessors 

Plant breeding expert

  • Post graduate level training in plant breeding and a sound theoretical knowledge of plant breeding and the factors contributing to genetic gain
  • Extensive practical experience running successful applied breeding program(s) in a relevant species.
  • Have the appropriate language capabilities and inter-personal skills to carry out the assessment
  • No conflict of interests with the institution being evaluated

 

Management consultant

  • Extensive experience in management of agricultural research teams in a range of organizations
  • Have the appropriate language capabilities and inter-personal skills to carry out the assessment
  • No conflict of interests with the institution being evaluated

For each assessment activity a selection of assessors from the panel will be evaluated against the criteria for suitability of the crop, organization and country. Assessors judged to have the necessary skills will be invited to tender through a transparent process and a strict set of selection criteria. The BPAT team will ensure that assessors are high caliber having the appropriate mix of experience and knowledge without conflicts of interest.
